Services at Harmony Haven

Q: Who provides the services at Harmony Haven?

A: Harmony Haven is co-led by Michelle and Steve, both experienced and qualified in their respective fields:

Michelle is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Bachelor and Master of Social Work (BSW, MSW). She offers psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families.

Steve is a Developmental Services Worker and provides respite and developmental services for individuals and families.

Stacey Sutherland is a Registered Indigenous Social Worker and Narmeen Ellahi is a Registered Psychotherapist, Qualifying.

Counselling with Michelle

Q: Are Michelle’s psychotherapy services covered by insurance?

A: Yes. Because Michelle is a Registered Social Worker, her psychotherapy services are covered by most extended health benefits and private insurance plans. We recommend checking with your provider to confirm your specific coverage.

Q: Is Michelle under clinical supervision?

A: Yes. Michelle is supervised by a Registered Psychotherapist, Julie Desjardins, RP #008983 which ensures high standards of care and continued professional development in her practice.

Q: What issues does Michelle support clients with?

A: Michelle works with clients experiencing a range of challenges including:

• Anxiety, depression, and mood disorders

• Neurodivergence; including late diagnosed women and later identified children

• Trauma and PTSD

• Relationship and family dynamics; including parent support regarding children’s diagnoses

• Stress and life transitions

Q: What can I expect in a counselling session?

A: Sessions are tailored to your individual needs and may include talk therapy, DBT, CPT, EFFT, and Narrative approaches, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness techniques. Michelle offers a safe, non-judgmental space for reflection, healing, and growth.

Respite & Developmental Services with Steve

Q: What services does Steve provide?

A: Steve offers respite care, behavior support, life skills coaching, and programming tailored to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Q: Are Steve’s services covered through funding programs?

A: Yes. Steve’s respite services are covered through a variety of Ontario-based funding programs, including:

• Special Services at Home (SSAH)

• Passport Program (DSO)

• Ontario Autism Program (OAP)

• Other individualized funding programs

Q: Who can benefit from Steve’s services?

A: Children, youth, and adults with developmental or physical disabilities, as well as their families. Services are flexible and client-centered, focusing on empowerment, inclusion, and quality of life.

Booking & Policies

Q: How do I book an appointment?

A: You can book an appointment by contacting us directly via info@harmonyhaven.ca or through our online booking form.

Q: Do you offer virtual appointments?

A: Yes. Michelle offers both in-person and virtual counselling sessions via secure video platform. Steve’s services are primarily in-person, with some virtual planning and coaching options available.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed appointments without notice may be subject to a fee.

Q: Is there a waitlist for services?

A: Wait times vary depending on the service and availability. We aim to offer timely support and will always communicate clearly about any wait times or alternatives.

Q: Do you collaborate with other professionals?

A: Yes. We often collaborate with schools, healthcare providers, and case managers (with client consent) to ensure continuity of care and wraparound support.
